after you've made that reservation
once you've made a hostel reservation be sure to ask the hostel how to get there from wherever you shall be arriving; tourists hop in a cab but backpackers see even the trip from the metro to the place they will be staying as an adventure. last night was no adventure when it took me two hours to get to my hostel. not speaking the language is a huge barrier.
